So leading up to Hunter’s birth, it was no secret that I was pretty miserable. I carried him sooo completely out in front of me, I looked like I was carrying twins. The stomach was huge, and I wanted no record of it (I think I have maybe one photo of myself) Looking back, I wish I would have taken more, being on the other side of it and thinking what a good laugh I could have about it now. Oh well.
So the last month of my pregnancy was pretty crazy. I was huge, miserable, hot and feeling bad that I was in such a bad mood 24-7. So those of you who had the honor of being in my presence, I apologize! :) I started doing anything and everything to try and get this little guy here early. Cleaned the house like crazy, walking everyday, spicy foods, etc. I started having contractions almost daily, but not strong enough or long enough to do anything about it. Doctor visits were depressing, because nothing was happening, and Dr. Judd, my doctor told me when I had three weeks to go he was going to be out of town the week we decided to induce me. (which was one week early of my due date, July 13th)
So after finally giving in to the fact that this guy was probably not coming anytime soon, I decided to just relax and just do stuff to make me happy. So two weeks before the due date, Sean and I went on a much needed date. I also went on a girls night out with my sisters, sil and mom to see the new Twilight movie. During the movie, contractions started, and got stronger but I didn’t think anything of it cause that had been happening everyday. By the end, they were coming pretty regularly, but I went home and went to bed, and they finally tapered off a couple of hours later. I woke up the next morning, laying in bed sad that nothing was happening anymore when my water broke at 9am. So we loaded up the kids, went to the hospital where Rhonda met us and took them and checked in. All was good and I was dilated to like a 2-3, so they gave me an epidural (which was the worst part this time–the dude kept on putting it in wrong and hitting bone—can you say paaaaainnnfulll! It took him like 4 tries to get it right) and started me on pitocin. After that I was lucky and it went pretty fast– my epidural wore off towards the end but I dilated pretty fast and we had to wait for the doc to get there because he was delivering at another hospital. The nurse was getting nervous she was going to have to deliver. By the time my doc got there, it was about 3:30 pm and I only had to push like 3 times and Hunter was here! All 9lbs, 6 0z of him.

He had so much brown hair, which was fun because both of our other kiddos were baldies when they were born. And he looks much more like a Keller than a Smith, so he’s kind of a different “model”. Here’s the proud daddy:

The kids came to visit, and Macie was sooo excited. I bet you can’t tell….

Dallin wasn’t sure what to think, but he warmed up by the end of the visit…

First family photo.

We’re so glad he’s finally here, and we love him so much! He’s such a great addition to this little family, and just perfect. More pics of his first month coming soon….
